BCCI Seeks Sachin , Ganguly and Dravid as Cricket Advisors

The Board of Control for CRICKET in India has expressed its desire to appoint former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid as advisors on all cricket-related matters. In its working committee meeting on Sunday, the Board decided to seek the approval of the legendary players on the matter.

The three cricketers who together served Indian CRICKET on the field for decades are widely known as the stalwarts of Indian cricket. Their expertise is considered valuable and the Board wants them to advise it on all important cricketing matters including the appointment of national coach and/or director. "The working committee of the BCCI authorised president Mr Jagmohan Dalmiya to constitute a cricket advisory committee comprising of prominent cricketers who will share their recommendations on the overall conduct and development of the game," read a media release.

Interestingly, Ganguly and Dravid were being seen as candidates to replace Duncan Fletcher as the next coach of Team India. Their possible appointment as advisors though may mean that a third candidate will be given the reigns of the team going forward. "The process to identify the coach and support staff for the Senior National team will be undertaken by the Hon. President and the Hon. Secretary."

There were other matters on the working committee's agenda as well, such as the sale of Chennai Super Kings, the N. Srinivasan owned Indian Premier League franchise. The BCCI however, did not ratify the demerger of the CSK from India Cements as of now because, the Board wanted more legal opinion on this matter before giving it its stamp of approval.

India batsman and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was also recommended for Arjuna Award for the year 2015.
